Typically, during La Niña years, Japan experiences cooler and wetter conditions in winter, which can influence weather patterns and potentially affect, apart from the ski industry – agriculture, fisheries and even societal activities. La Nina Japan 2021 Winter November 2020 update Our initial observations and predictions are listed below for further reading. Basically, our initial observations seem correct. According to the JMA on 24 November, the purple areas (inc. Niigata Prefecture) below will receive normal to high falls, the blue areas a regular winter pattern and the white areas (inc. eastern Hokkaido) normal to low falls. The main tourist attraction in Nagano City, Zenkoji Temple (said to have been built in the early 7th century), is a famous Japan temple and must see in Nagano. Zenkoji Temple (善光寺) in Nagano City is one of Japan’s most historically significant and spiritually inclusive Buddhist sites. Established in the 7th century, it has been a center of faith and pilgrimage for over 1,400 years. The temple is renowned for housing Japan’s oldest Amida Buddha statue, known as the Hibutsu, which is traditionally kept hidden and only revealed to the public once every six years during the Gokaicho ceremony. Zenkoji Temple attracts approximately 7 million visitors annually. The approach to the temple is lined with traditional shops and eateries, offering a vibrant atmosphere.
