Please note: Due to safety concerns with road conditions at night, nighttime drop-offs in Shiga Kogen are no longer offered. Private hotel transfers can be arranged from airports or Nagano Station for larger groups (at least 4+).

The Snow Monkeys (Yudanaka, Shibu Onsen, and Kanbayashi Onsen) will have designated pick up / drop-off locations, rather that door to door service, as the roads are too narrow. Please select ‘Shiga Kogen’ as your service, then your pick up or drop off point for the Snow Monkeys.

• Must be booked at least 30 days in advance in order to guarantee available seats. 
• JR Pass holders must book their own seats separately – we cannot book on your behalf.
• Packages available to Haneda Airport up to JR Hamamatsucho Station (Tokyo Monorail tickets are not included).

FAQ: Book Nagano Snow Shuttle bookings

How far in advance do I need to book?

For the Snow Shuttle service, reservations can be made up to three days before departure. Buses do fill up during peak season so making your reservation in advance is advised. For our private charter service, enquiries must be made at least one month before the departure date. However we recommend booking as far as possible in advance due to high demand.

Can I book, and then pay when I board the bus?

No. All payment is required in advance.

Can I travel without making a reservation?

Subject to availability, you may purchase a ticket upon boarding. Please head to the Nagano Snow Shuttle airport desk or shuttle stop to see if there is any availability. However we highly recommend advance booking due to high demand.

How long does the journey take?

Usually 5.5-6.5 hours. Please check the schedules on the page here. When booking you will receive a full itinerary. There are no bus restrooms but comfort stops are regularly scheduled along the way.

Is there a combination bullet train/bus transfer available?

Yes! This option can be chosen and booked via the form below.

What are the cancellation fees?

• 46 days or more before date of travel: 10% of total fare
• 21 – 45 days before date of travel: 20% of total fare
• 8 – 20 days before date of travel: 50% of total fare
• 7 days or less before date of travel: 100% of total fare

Can I catch an earlier/later bus on the day?

You may change to an earlier or later bus on the same day free of charge (subject to availability). Please head to the Nagano Snow Shuttle airport desk or shuttle stop to check if there is any availability. Note that additional services, such an accommodation transfer, will no longer be valid (no refunds).

Are there charging ports or Wi-Fi on board?

Most buses offer free basic Wi-Fi, but charging ports are not available. Please bring your own back up battery.

How much luggage can I take with me?

Luggage allowance is 1 piece of checked baggage per person (ski bag OR suitcase), plus 1 small carry on item to be put on your laps, under your seat or in the overhead compartment. Excess luggage (such as an extra suitcase or ski bag) can be purchased at reservation. If you have unbooked excess baggage it may be left behind if there is no space.

Is there a discounted rates for kids?

Infants can travel free of charge. An Infant is any passenger age 0-4 who does not occupy a seat. Passengers who are 5 years and above require a seat and must pay the full fare price. No child seats can be provided. Kids under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

My flight/train was delayed, will you wait for me?

Whilst the shuttle may attempt to wait for delayed flights and trains, in many cases it is not possible. They are only permitted to use the vehicle stopping areas for limited times. If you miss your bus you can wait for the next shuttle (subject to availability). Otherwise, please utilise your travel insurance for any losses incurred due to your delay.

I’m at the bus stop and need help, what should I do?
